During the first week remove all honey supers.
  • Insert Varroa Treatment -
Insert varroa treatment at the same time as start of feeding.
  • Put Feeders On & Start Feeding -

Put feeders on and start feeding (preferably in the evening to avoid robbing). Sugar syrup is made up by using a 2 to 1 mixture (1Kg sugar to 0.625 litres of water)

  • Put Entrance Blocks On -

Put entrance blocks in/on to help bees defend their hive from wasps (and other bees)

  • Place Wet Suppers on the Hive -

After honey extraction place wet supers back on the hive for the bees to clean out for a maximum of 3 days (to stop the supers being filled up again)

  • Remove Supers (after 3 days) -

When cleared of honey, remove supers, scrape off loose wax, propolis and bee debris outside before taking the supers into the cottage. (Only supers that have been cleaned in this way should be brought into the cottage)

  • Stack cleaned supers -
Stack cleared supers and any brood box with drawn comb and treat with acetic acid in sealed plastic
